Three winners on second night of preliminaries

VICKSBURG, MS (WLBT) - Today is the final round of the Miss Mississippi Pageant's preliminary competition. the supporters who came out to last night's show saw two pageant veterans tie for the swimwear category.

The talent preliminary, there were more dancers, singers and musicians. In the group a preliminary talent winner from last year, Maries Wicks, Miss Dixieland and last nights swimwear winner, Diana Strickland, Miss Riverland. But the last contestant to perform was Miss North Central Mississippi, Caitlyn Smith.

Smith is a 19 year old student at the University of Alabama. She is from Columbus and is a dean's list student majoring in Latin.

"Piano is something that I take very seriously. It's an outlet for stress and it's just a great way to communicate to others through an instrument, its just really fun. I hope that they could see that by the way I was playing" says Smith.

In swimwear Thursday night, there were several veterans of the pageant. Mary Brandon Norman, Miss Hattiesburg, , Brooke Beard, Miss University, Rachael Shannon, Miss Deep South, Miss New South, Anna Tadlock, Miss Mississippi State, Sarah Beth James, and Miss Southern Magnolia, Kristen Benigno.

When the votes were tallied there was a tie. Miss Hattiesburg, Mary Brandon Norman, and Miss New South Anna Tadlock strolled away with the win.

"It was really great. I was not expecting that at all. So i was very shocked but very pleased at the same time" says Tadlock.

"I was ecstatic. I don't know if I even remember it at this point and time, but the adrenaline rush was great and i'm , I'm so excited right now" says Norman.

Five contestants now have the honor of winning in preliminary competiton.

The final round begins at eight tonight at the Vicksburg Convention Center.
