Dutch airman laid to rest

JACKSON, MS (WLBT) - At Cedar Lawn Cemetery in Jackson, another Dutch Airmen is laid to rest.

Sergeant Harry Lange was a Dutch flyer who trained in Jackson during World War II. His ashes were interred in a Dutch plot dedicated to those flyers. During an annual Memorial Day service. He joins over 40 Dutchmen in the special plot. Lange lived in Jackson for over 40 years and died in Debruary of 2007. His wife says Lange's final wish was to be laid to rest at Cedar Lawn Cemetery.

"I think he knows that he's here with his comrades that he trained with and I'm pleased because I think he would be pleased," said Lois Lange, wife of Sgt. Harry Lange.

Six hundred Dutch Airmen trained in Jackson during World War II. Over half of those buried in the Dutch Memorial were killed during World War II training missions.
