Horhn unveils economic plan for city

JACKSON, MS (WLBT) - State Senator John Horhn pledges to be a friend to small business if elected to lead the City of Jackson.

Wednesday afternoon Horhn unveiled his economic plan for the city at a plumbing company on Terry Road.

Local businessmen, the Jackson Association of Homebuilders and others stood with the candidate.

His four point plan includes neighborhood improvements and small business assistance, investing in public safety, infrastructure and workforce education and training.

Horhn said too much attention has been paid to the downtown area while other neighborhoods have been ignored.

He plans to expand the Jackson Redevelopment Authority to areas beyond downtown.

"We're going to make Jackson business friendly. We're gonna make it easier to do business here in Jackson. We're going to stabilize our neighborhoods through some innovative housing programs. We're going to turn this city into a destination," said Horhn.

Twelve Democrats, two Republicans and four Independent candidates are running for Jackson mayor.
