Crisler outlines crime fighting plans

JACKSON, MS (WLBT) - Crime is one of the major issues on the platform of mayoral candidate, Marshand Crisler.

Crisler detailed his plans for crime reduction in front of JPD headquarters Thursday morning.
He said, if elected, he would:

  • Hire and train more police officers
  • Reinstate the crime prevention unit
  • Update the crime stat program
  • Work with local chuches
  • Foster programs to keep kids off the streets.

Crisler says he has the experience to fight crime with 21 years in the military and 17 years with the Hinds County Sheriff's Department. "In 1993, I took a bullet in the line of duty as a narcotics officer fighting drug dealers on the mean streets of Jackson. I have already worked on the streets, rooting out crime and drugs in our neighborhoods and putting drug dealers in jail. Now I want to take my experience to city hall as mayor and help our police chief fight crime by providing the adminstrative leadership and resources necessary to cut crime in Jackson."
