Delta Sigma Theta Sorority holds Wellness Expo

Posted: Updated:

JACKSON, MS (WLBT) -  Delta Sigma Theta Sorority spread the message of healthy living during a fun filled event at the Jackson Medical Mall.

The sorority's Jackson alumnae chapter hosted a wellness expo Saturday. It offered free health screenings and booths with the latest information on various medical conditions and their treatment. Medical personnel were on hand testing everything from blood pressure to cholesterol.

The kids also enjoyed arts, crafts and face painting and adults even got a chance to work out then get a massage. Organizers say the event encourages better physical and mental health.

"Information on health and wellness and making healthy lifestyle changes. We also offer free chair massage, so it's an opportunity to relax and just kind of pamper yourself as well as the fitness conference," said Kira Johnson.

This is the second year the event has been held.
