The case against a former state senator and house member accused of killing geese at the Reservoir will be handled by the U.S Fish and Wildlife Service.
Mike Gunn, who last served in the Senate in 1997, was seen by his neighbors rounding up Canada Geese goslings last Friday. The neighbors called authorities.
Carol Boland, who is also the Chief of Police in Flora, lives at the Reservoir was an eyewitness to Gunn's catching goslings and putting them in his barbecue grill.
"The gas didn't work when he put them in the grill, so at some point he bashed them in the head to kill them," Boland told WLBT.
The Department of Wildlife, Fisheries and Parks originally charged Gunn with hunting geese out of season. They recovered seven dead goslings.
Gunn tried to tell the arresting officer he was still in the legislature and was going to call the Governor. That did not deter the officer, who proceeded to charge him with a violation.
