Woman sentenced for 'slip and fall' insurance fraud

A Jackson woman is sentenced for insurance fraud after she claimed she slipped and fell at a local grocery store.

Forty year old Dianne Smith of Jackson pleaded guilty to charges she made false statements about an accident at McDade's Grocery on Fortification Street.

Smith attempted to get a financial settlement by claiming she slipped and fell inside the store.

She was given a one year sentence, suspended with three years of supervised probation.

Smith must also pay $2,000 to the Victims Compensation Fund and pay over $2,000 in investigative costs.
