WLBT 3 - Jackson, MS: Teacher Arrested on Sex Charges Involving Student

A teacher at a private school in Jackson has been arrested on sex charges involving a student.
Rankin County sheriff's deputies arrested Sheral Lee Smith, 37, on September 17 and charged her with statutory rape and transfer of a controlled substance.
Smith teaches at New Summit School on Lelia Drive in Jackson, a K-through-12 school established in 1997.
Rankin County district attorney Michael Guest says the crime occurred at Smith's Rankin County home and involved a 14-year-old boy.
Smith was released Friday on $50,00 bond.
