
Two people died in house fires over the weekend.
Jamie Johnson, 54, died Saturday night in a fire at his home on J.W. Miller Road in Jayess, in Lawrence County. The Topeka Fire Department responded to the blaze around 10:30 p.m. Officials are still trying to determine how the fire started.
Meanwhile, fire engulfed the home of Nellie Hooper, 92, early Saturday morning on Hooper Road in Walthall, in Webster County. Relatives calling 911 said they heard an explosion around 2 a.m.
A Columbus television station is reporting that Hooper's grandson was also found burned outside the home.
