WLBT 3 - Jackson, MS: Town of Lost Rabbit Floods Marina

Madison County 01/12/08

Town of Lost Rabbit Floods Marina

A big step Saturday morning for a new development on the Ross Barnett Reservoir in Madison County.

Builders opened the flood gates and let reservoir water fill the new Lost Rabbit marina. The new town of Lost Rabbit is located at the east end of Hoy Road.

The marina will contain 120 boat slips and will be included in the town center. That area will consist of five blocks of condos, office space, restaurants, art galleries and specialty stores.

One builder compared it to the square in Oxford. "If people have visited they can sense it but that could be the closest thing to Jackson that I think we could relate to and feel like what it is like to live over a law office and have a condo above and still walk down to dinner with friends," said David Turner, owner of Sustainable Construction.

Construction of the town center will begin next month and is expected to be completed by the end of this year.
