WLBT 3 - Jackson, MS: Julie Straw

Julie Straw

Julie Straw joined WLBT as a general assignment reporter in August of 2006.

Julie is a California native, born and raised in the Napa Valley.  She received her Bachelor's Degree in Broadcast Journalism from Point Loma Nazarene University in San Diego.   She was awarded the university's first "Outstanding Student in Broadcast Journalism Award."

While in school, Julie anchored and reported for Point Loma's campus TV station.  Julie interned at NBC 7/39 and was hooked the minute she set foot in the newsroom.  She then began her career as an associate producer at NBC 7/39 in San Diego.

Julie loves to travel.  She has studied in Rome, Italy and backpacked across Europe.  In her free time she enjoys reading, the theatre, listening to music, and mentoring her little sister through Big Brothers/Big Sisters.

Julie says working at WLBT has given her the opportunity of meeting the wonderful people of Mississippi and sharing their stories.
