2 Cars Stolen with 2 Children Inside in One Night

Two different stops at Jackson gas stations turned into terrifying ordeals for two different women Thursday evening.

The first happened at a Shell station on Ridgewood Road near the Lockwood Apartment Complex.

Jackson Police Chief Shirlene Anderson says Jennifer Schnibben stopped at the Shell station around 6:30p.m. Thursday for gas. Schnibben says she left the car open and engine running to go inside for a bag of chips when the clerk told her the car was being stolen.

What the crooks didn't know was that Schnibben's 3-month-old son was in the backseat along with her cell phone. They pulled into the Hilton Hotel on County Line Road; dumped the baby; called police with Schnibben's cell phone and sped off in her car.

"..I'm just glad my baby's back. I don't care about my car. I want my baby back and I got that so I'm fine.." says the terrified mother.

Schnibben's Green Hyundai Elantra has a Madison County tag, number 406 MCF. The right front hub cap is missing and there is a Mississippi College and "Support Your Troops" decal on the car.

A similiar story occurred shortly after 9 p.m. at a Shell station located at the 2700 block of Highway 80 in Jackson.

An unidentified woman left her 3 month old child and keys in her car to go inside to the gas station.

The suspect drove off in the 1992 blue Honda Civic with the infant inside.

Jackson Police responded to a call 27 minutes later at the intersections of 4th and Roseneath.

Precinct Commander Lee Vance says the unharmed child and stolen vehicle were recovered there.

Vance describes that suspect as a light skinned black male wearing a white shirt and black pants.

If you have any information regarding these two cases you are asked to contact the Jackson Police Department.
