National Cancer Survivors Day was Sunday and those fighting the disease are leaving their mark.
At Baptist Medical Center hundreds of survivors dipped their hands in paint to add their hand prints to a special survivors quilt.
The quilt will be on display for the next year at the cancer center.
More than 200 survivors met at the medical center for food, socializing and entertainment.
Motivational speaker and cancer survivor Edward Leigh shared his story of struggle and triumph.
For patients and medical personnel it is a milestone and celebration they look forward to.
Bobbie Ware is Director of Cancer Services with Baptist Health Systems.
Ware said, "This is the favorite time of the year for our staff. We're able to treat patients throughout the year, and this is an opportunity to come and celebrate with them and honor them for the achievements and salute them for what they've done in their progress toward beating this disease."
The 18th annual national celebration was held in over 700 communities across the country.
