Mississippi "Future Farmer" rides in Roses Parade

Posted: Updated:

PASADENA, CA (WLBT) -  The Tournament of Roses Parade broadcast on NBC this morning had a Mississippi connection... on an award-winning float!

Mississippi Future Farmers of America President Justin Blair rode on the first ever Future Farmers of America float, and that float happened to win the Craftsmen's Award for outstanding showmanship and dramatic impact.

Forty two million people in the United States, and 100 million people worldwide watched the float travel down Orange and Colorado Boulevards in Pasadena, California. The national FFA officer team surrounded the float, and a state officer from each Future Farmers of America office had a presence.

The "FFA-Today" float is 75 feet tall, 30 feet long, and 18 feet wide. It was one of the largest in the Tournament of Roses Parade.
