JACKSON, MS (WLBT) - A Rankin County elected official is busted for shoplifting. 50 year old Bernadine Norsworthy has been charged with felony shoplifting. She is the Election Commissioner for District One in Rankin County. She is also a P.E. teacher at Richland Upper Elementary School.
According to Flowood Police, Norsworthy went to Belk on Lakeland Drive Sunday afternoon. She grabbed and concealed $800 worth of items, including towels, jewelry and accessories.
Police investigators were called by Belk security around 4:30 pm Sunday. She was taken to jail and given a $5,000 bond. Rankin County School District, Belk's local and corporate offices and the Rankin County Board of Supervisors would not comment on the arrest.
