JACKSON, MS (WLBT) - Walkers hit the pavement in downtown Jackson for the fifth annual Walk Of Grace.
The three mile trek began at 2:00 Sunday afternoon at Smith Park. Each participant was asked to raise funds through pledges to benefit Grace House. It is Mississippi's first HIV AIDS transitional living home and it's located right here in the capitol city.
Some walkers wrote the names of loved ones with the disease on red and white balloons to carry along the route.
"People are there, they come in, they are homeless. They stabilize they are usually there for about two years and then leave self sufficient and go into permanent housing like their own apartment or in their own house," said Trey Magnum of Walk Of Grace.
The walk also focuses on HIV AIDS education and prevention. Participants were offered free rapid HIV antibodies testing at the event.
