BOONEVILLE, Miss. (AP) - A Prentiss County grand jury has indicted nine people on charges related an investigation into a chop shop.
Sheriff Randy Tolar tells The Daily Corinthian that the investigation found several incidents of insurance fraud in which the vehicle owners were allegedly a part of a scheme to report their vehicles stolen and then collect the insurance.
Tolar says at least one whole vehicle was recovered and a multitude of auto parts were recovered that was related to the alleged insurance fraud. He says several other recovered vehicles had mutilated identification numbers.
Tolar says the nine face a variety of charges including insurance fraud, conspiracy and operating a chop shop. He says all nine posted bond this past week.
