GALLMAN, MS (WLBT) - A murder suspect in Copiah County made a deal to avoid the death penalty.
29-year-old Arther Lestrick was found guilty of capital murder in connection with a February shooting at a Gallman Stuckey's.
But during the sentencing phase, he pleaded guilty in a plea deal and received life in prison without parole.
Authorities said on February 6 of this year, Lestrick entered the convenience store, pretended to buy a few items and then opened fire.
18-year-old store clerk Shiva Behal was killed.
