JACKSON, MS (WLBT) - November is National Adoption Awareness Month.
In Mississippi since 2001, the Carlisle Corporation that owns Wendy's restaurants throughout the southeast has sponsored programs to help with adoptions in the state.
Wendy's customers can show their support with a dollar for adoption with all of the money being used to find permanent homes for children in Mississippi.
"There are 556 children waiting for adoption and we want all of them adopted and we will not rest until we have the opportunity to give every child a loving home and Wendy's is committed to that," said Karen Carlisle with the Carlisle Corporation.
Country music star and Mississippi native Faith Hill has teamed up with the Carlisle Corporation to focus on adoption.
In the last three years, Hill has helped them raise more than two million dollars. She was adopted.
