WLBT 3 - Jackson, MS: Former Ole Miss RA sentenced on child porn charges

(OXFORD, MS) WLBT - A former Ole Miss resident assistant has been sentenced for possession of child pornography on the university's campus.
The Daily Mississippian newspaper is reporting that 23-year-old John "Rip" Rippy Jr. has been sentenced to seven years, three months behind bars and five years of supervised release. He will be required to register as a sex offender.
Rippy has also pleaded not guilty to four counts of sexual battery of a 12-year-old boy between January 2004 and December 2006 in Lafayette County. A trial date has not been set for those charges.
Rippy is a 2003 graduate of Northwest Rankin High School in Flowood.
