Hinds County names new E.O.C. director

HINDS COUNTY, MS (WLBT) - In its regularly scheduled meeting Monday, the Hinds County Board of Supervisors voted 4-1 to promote Mr. Jimmie R. Lewis from Hinds County Permit and Zoning to replace recently retired Larry Fisher, formerly of the Emergency Operations Center, as director.

A lifetime resident of Hinds County, Lewis has been employed with the county for 18 years, ten years under the direction of Larry Fisher as an Operations-Fire Training Officer.

Lewis is also experienced as a Haz-Mat Technician, CFM, Safety Officer and is a certified firefighter. 

He received his Master's Degree from Jackson State University in 1997. He is also a graduate of Alcorn State University (1982) and Utica Jr. College (1977) where he earned his Bachelor's and Associate's degrees. 

 Lewis's appointment is effective immediately.

One of his priorities will be the continued upgrade and replacement of the county's emergency siren system.
