Wife files motion for new trial

Posted: Updated:

DIAMONDHEAD, MS (WLBT) - A former Diamondhead resident sentenced to life in prison for killing her husband has filed a motion for a new trial.

Edna Mae Sanders was convicted of murder in April 2008. Her 53-year-old husband, Sherman Sanders, died after being doused with hot cooking oil on July 28th, 2006.

A ruling on the new trial is pending before a circuit court judge.

The motion claims that the jury was not allowed to hear that the victim had a history of violence.
