LOUISIANA (WLBT) - Three men, including a suspected theft ring leader, were arrested and 250-thousand dollars worth of stolen farm equipment was recovered.
The investigation began about two weeks ago when the Mississippi Agricultural Theft Bureau told Louisiana State Police that machinery, stolen from John Deere dealerships, was possibly being moved to Louisiana.
Detectives discovered 40-year-old Homer G. Hess, of Kentwood, Louisiana, was trying to sell the stuff.
They arranged a sting and arrested Hess and 18-year-old Devon Lipson, of Jackson. Both are charged with possession of stolen property.
Hess and Lipson led authorities to locations in Louisiana and Mississippi.
In Jackson, MBI agents arrested Steve Ginter, the suspected leader of the theft ring.
