Natchez soldier killed in the Philippines

JACKSON, MS (WLBT) - Another Mississippi soldier has been killed while serving overseas -- this time in the Philippines.

The United States Department of Defense says Sergeant First Class Christopher D. Shaw died when his vehicle hit an improvised explosive device on Tuesday.

Shaw was a native of Natchez. He was serving his second deployment in support of Operation Enduring Freedom - Philippines. Shaw was assigned to First Special Forces Group (Airborne) at Fort Lewis, Washington.

He was 37 years old.
