JACKSON, MS (WLBT) - You will soon be able to find Who's Who in Black Mississippi by flipping through the pages of a book.
Representatives of Who's Who Publishing Company and Sponsors held a reception at the Roberts Walthall Hotel in downtown Jackson to announce the publication is coming to the Magnolia State.
It is the nation's largest annual directory publisher targeting the African-American market.
Doctor Juanita Sims Doty will be the associate publisher.
"We're so delighted because with Mississippi having 37-percent African Americans, it certainly something that we need here so we can share with the world who we are in the state of Mississippi," said Doty.
"..So, it's really a great way for us to celebrate us as well as to get the word out to our young people about they can be what they can see," says Carter D. Womack, National Sales with Who's Who Publishing Company.
The coffee table book, already published in 25 markets, will also be used as an educational tool in schools. They're expected to be available for purchase in April 2010. Soft and hard back editions will cost 35 and 50 dollars respectively.
