CRYSTAL SPRINGS, MS (WLBT) - An arrest is made in a six month old murder in Crystal Springs. Police say a Crime-Stoppers tip earlier this week led to the capture of Joemarrio Demon Evans of Utica.
The 23-year-old was arrested without incident at a football game at the Hinds Community College campus in Utica last night. Evans is charged with capital murder and armed robbery for an incident back on March 6th.
Twenty-nine year old William Luke Donahoe was fatally shot in the head at the Sak-N-Pak where he worked as a store clerk.
Crystal springs Detective Chris Palmer says they had questioned Evans before about the murder. After receiving a Crime Stoppers tip, he was questioned again and detective Palmer says he confessed to the shooting.
"I think its closure for the family, the donahoe family, it's also closure for the community being such a tight-knit community. It has been a problem knowing that someone has killed someone in the community and was still on the loose. We work diligently trying to catch the killer," Detective Palmer said.
Evans will make his initial appearance in court Monday. Detective Palmer says he expects to make another arrest in this case soon.
