WLBT 3 - Jackson, MS: School for autistic children may open soon

School for autistic children may open soon

Posted: Updated:

JACKSON, MS (WLBT) - Central Mississippi may see the return of a school for autistic children.

Last month the University of Mississippi Medical Center announced it was closing it's school for children with autism. Almost immediately, the state department of education was contacted by another university about reopening the school.

The name of the new university is not being released pending the reach of a deal for school's reopening. June 30th, UMC closed the school that had served about 35 children diagnosed with autism and other developmental delays.
