Tylertown man drowns in river

BOGUE CHITTO, MS (WLBT) - A dip in the river turned deadly for Tylertown man.

The drowning happened Monday afteroon in Bogue Chitto, in Pike County.

Louis Jackson, Jr., 53, was swimming with a friend in the river. He was on private property just off Highway 44.

Sheriff Mark Shepherd says Jackson stepped into a pocket of deep water and went under. His friends could not save him.

According to authorities, alcohol may have been a factor.
