Fire that killed two children ruled accidental

SMITH COUNTY, MS (WLBT) - A Smith County fire that killed two children has been ruled accidental, but the cause of that fire is still undetermined.

It happened early Thursday morning in a home off Highway 540 between Raleigh and Mendenhall.

Nine year old Clyde Saulters and his sister, seven year old Renee Saulters, died of smoke inhalation.

Their great grandmother, Johnnie Faye Marthaler, is in stable condition at UMC.

Donations can be made to the Clyde and Renee Saulters fund at Community Bank.
