JACKSON, MS (WLBT) -Metro area leaders from the private and public sector gathered to welcome the new chairman of the Greater Jackson Chamber Partnership and offer well wishes to the outgoing head.
There was a standing ovation for Duane O’Neill, who has lead the organization for 25 years.
Taking the mantle now is Jackson businessman, Johnny Maloney, who shares his vision for the Chamber.
Maloney said, “My vision is the community coming together. I would love for us to tear down the silos and all the counties to work together; all the cities to work together. Is it gonna be tough? Yes, it’s gonna be tough, but Mississippi, central Mississippi, has so many great things going for it .”
Duane O’Neill said, “And he is not only a great businessman, but a great thinker. He will be a person that can take this organization on to the next step.”
The Greater Jackson Chamber Partnership in downtown Jackson began 120 years ago as the Jackson Board of Trade and has played a key role in the growth and development of the economy.
It’s a non-profit organization.
