JACKSON, MS (WLBT) - The city council was expected to vote tonight to accept or deny ZoOceanarium Group’s proposal to be the Jackson zoo’s next management company, but they have moved the vote to next Thursday.

After the contract between the previous management company ended last October, the city requested proposals from potential management companies. That's when ZoOceanarium came into the picture.

According to their website, the company provides all areas of management; including animal programs, facility design and wildlife conservation.

If the council does accept the companies proposal, zoo leadership will not be transferred to ZoOceanarium until a contract is negotiated.
