Vicksburg PD makes arrest in New Year’s Eve shooting

VICKSBURG, MS (WLBT) - An arrest has been made in a New Year’s Eve shooting that happened in Vicksburg.

Police say 33-year-old Kevin Dewayne Buck is now in custody.

On December 31, 2018 around 11:28 p.m. police responded to the 2828 Ken Karl Avenue in reference to a shooting.

When officers arrived they found a 17-year-old male lying on the floor of the home with a gunshot wound to his back. He was later transported the University Medical Center in Jackson where he was listed in stable condition.

Vicksburg Police received a tip through Crime Stoppers, who identified Buck as the shooter.

He was charged on January 16, 2019 with aggravated assault and also felon in possession of firearm after a search warrant conducted at his residence. Officers recovered a firearm from his residence.

His bond was set at $35,000. Buck was transported to the Warren County Jail pending the next Grand Jury.
