Madison man to pay back $47,000 in child support after missing payments for 7 years

MADISON, MS (WLBT) - A Madison County man has been ordered to pay back more than $47,000 of child support after pleading guilty to one count of non-support of a child. This was announced by Attorney General Jim Hood.

Larry Garrett was ordered by Madison County Circuit Court Judge Steve Ratcliff to pay $47,488.64 after failing to pay child support for seven years. Garrett must also make payments for future child support.

Judge Ratcliff sentenced Garrett to five years in the custody of the Madison Department of Corrections, with those five years suspended. He will also have five additional years of supervised probation.

“The well-being of Mississippi’s children is why we pursue these cases," said General Hood.
