Driver of overturned Greyhound bus pleads not guilty

AMR says 22 people were transported to multiple hospitals.

JACKSON, MS (WLBT) - Emergency crews were on scene rescuing passengers from a Greyhound bus that overturned off of I-55 Wednesday night.

The bus overturned on the Pascagoula Street entry ramp to I-55 during heavy rain that made conditions dangerous for drivers.

AMR says 22 people were transported to multiple hospitals. All passengers were safely evacuated from the bus.

According to Sgt. Holmes with Jackson police, the 31-year-old driver of the bus was identified as Erika Nixon and was taken into custody. She is being charged with misdemeanor driving while under the influence.

She appeared in court Thursday morning and pleaded not guilty to the charges.
