JACKSON, MS (WLBT) - Evan Henry, a 23-year-old black man, died Tuesday, Jan. 1, 2019, after a shooting outside a home, according to Jackson police.
JPD Sgt. Roderick Holmes said officers responded to West Pearl Street near Briggs Street at around 9:30 p.m. and found the victim lying between two residences, unresponsive.
Holmes said Henry appeared to have been shot once in the upper part of his body and died shortly after police arrived.
Some residents in the area told investigators they heard gunshots but didn’t see what happened.
While police have not been able to identify the gunman, they believe robbery is the motive.
Holmes said Henry’s vehicle was found near the crime scene.
