PHILADELPHIA, PA (WLBT) - Philadelphia Eagles defensive tackle Fletcher Cox has been named the NFC Defensive Player of the Week.
The Yazoo City grad and former Mississippi State All-American recorded three sacks in the Eagles win over Washington Sunday. Their victory, coupled with Minnesota’s loss, earned them a spot in the playoffs. Cox finished the regular season with a career-high 10.5 sacks.
Cox has been a force for the Eagles over the final weeks of the season, recording 6.5 sacks in five December games. Pro Football Focus says Cox has led the NFL in total pressures over the last four weeks.
This is the second NFC Defensive Player of the Week award in Cox’s seven year career. He’s also been selected to the Pro Bowl for a fourth time.
