JACKSON, MS (WLBT) - Teams won’t take the diamond for Opening Day for almost two more months, but preseason college baseball polls are beginning to roll out.

Collegiate Baseball released their preseason Top 40 poll Tuesday, with Ole Miss ranked #11 in the country. The Rebels are led by Collegiate Baseball preseason All-Americans Parker Caracci and Ryan Olenek. Ole Miss opens the 2019 season with a three-game weekend series with Wright State in Oxford beginning Friday, February 15.

Further down the Top 40, Mississippi State will enter the season ranked #27 and Southern Miss at #30. The Bulldogs open the newly-renovated Dudy Noble Field February 15 with the first of three games against Youngstown State. Southern Miss is also home the opening weekend of the college baseball season, hosting Purdue for three games at Pete Taylor Park.

LSU is ranked #1 in the College Baseball preseason Top 40. Vanderbilt, UCLA, Texas Tech, and Stanford round out the top five. Other ranked SEC schools are Florida at #6, Georgia at #13, Auburn at #23, Arkansas at #25, and Texas A&M at #29.
