JACKSON, MS (WLBT) - Beer sales could be coming to Ole Miss.

The Lafayette County Board of Supervisors approved a resolution on Monday that gives specific locations on Ole Miss’ campus resort-area status. According to WTVA, this change would be a step towards allowing beer to be sold or distributed on campus, but only at non-athletic events.

The locations in the resolution include Vaught-Hemingway Stadium, the Pavilion and various other venues.

“Resort status will allow the university to expand its appeal to tourists, vacationists and others from around the state and region by bringing a broader range of cultural and recreational events and performances to campus resulting in even more people visiting Oxford and Lafayette County,” said a university spokesperson.

WTVA reports that the next step in this process is for the application to be approved by the Mississippi Department of Revenue.
