JACKSON, MS (WLBT) - The Jackson City Council is meeting on Thursday to discuss an order appointing James Davis as chief of the police department.

Council President Melvin Priester, Jr. issued a release Tuesday afternoon about the special council meeting.

Davis was appointed interim chief in June. He replaced Interim Chief Anthony Moore, who took the position in January, heading JPD after Chief Lee Vance retired last December.
