JACKSON, MS (WLBT) - An unidentified black man was found dead Sunday, Sept. 16, 2018, after a shooting in a parking lot, according to the Jackson Police Department.
JPD Sgt. Roderick Holmes said it happened just before 9 a.m. on Peachtree Street near Poplar Boulevard.
Officers arrived after a resident found the man and notified authorities.
Holmes said the victim appeared to have been there for sometime, likely several hours.
Investigators later learned that some residents who lived nearby heard several gunshots the night before.
Detectives found several spent shell casings near the intersection.
The victim’s identity has not yet been released.
It’s not known at this point what led to the shooting or who may have been responsible.
