JACKSON, MS (WLBT) - Shots rang out in a south Jackson neighborhood and the death toll has risen due to violence in the Capital City.
Police say a fight led to gunfire and they need help finding the killer.
Jackson police are on the hunt for a gunman accused of shooting a man in a home on McCluer Road fleeing the scene in a car that drove west down the roadway.
Officers were called to the home shortly around 8:30 a.m. after receiving a 911 call of shots fired.
Investigators say two men were arguing when one opened fire.
Hinds County Coroner Sharon Grisham-Stewart identifies the victim as 31-year-old Orlando Coleman.
“My preliminary examination determined two gunshot wounds, one to the chest and one to the arm,” said Grisham-Stewart. “He was in one of the front rooms of the house.”
JPD Interim Chief James Davis said a man was seen running from the home after the shooting, but someone at the house may be able to identify the killer.
"We believe there was a witness inside of this home that witnessed all of this, this encounter with those two individuals inside the home," said Davis.
Call Jackson police at 601-960-1234 or Crimestoppers at 601-355-TIPS if you have any information that can lead to an arrest in this case.
