CLINTON, MS (WLBT) - The Mississippi College versus North Greenville University football game that was scheduled for Saturday, September 15, at 6:00 p.m. has been canceled due to the impending threat of Hurricane Florence of the coast of the Carolina’s.
"Our hope is to compete every scheduled contest, but the health and safety of our participants takes priority," said GSC Commissioner Matt Wilson.
Earlier in the week, storm tracks showed a more favorable forecast for the Tigerville, South Carolina area, but recent movement in the path of the storm has created a larger threat to both the state and surrounding areas.
A make-up date between the Choctaws and Crusaders will not be set.
The Choctaws are next set to face nationally ranked and defending NCAA Divison II runner-up West Florida on Saturday, September 22, at Robinson-Hale Stadium in Clinton.
